Top Chef New York moved to New Orleans this week, where the final four chefs battled it out to make it to the finals next week. Stefan, Hosea, Carla, and Fabio all arrived in New Orleans and were brought to the Houmas House Plantation & Gardens, where the twist of the night was waiting for them.

Instead of these four being in the Quickfire Challenge, the last 3 chefs eliminated, Leah, Jamie, and Jeff, would fight for the chance to make it back into the final group. With the guest judge being Emeril Lagasse, they had one hour to prepare a crawfish dish. After trying the 3 dishes, Emeril chose Jeff as the winner. The next twist of the night was that Jeff would now need to win the Elimination Challenge to continue on to the Finals.

That night they were all invited to eat dinner at Emeril’s Delmonico, Emeril’s restaurant. The next day, the five were brought to a warehouse called Mardi Gras World. Many of the Mardi Gras floats were stored there. Here they were told that they would have to prepare 2 dishes and 1 cocktail for a masquerade ball at the New Orleans Museum of Art, being thrown by the Krewe of Orpheus. These dishes would have to have a Creole theme. The winner of the challenge would also win a Toyota Venza.

Carla created an Oyster Stew and another dish, and her drink was a non-alcoholic cranberry and lime spritzer. Hosea had a gumbo and catfish dish and his drink was a hurricane with Grand Marnier and rum. Stefan’s dish was also a gumbo, served over grits, and his cocktail was a black cherry and rum cocktail. Fabio kept his Italian flavor and made a pasta dish, and also a sausage and rabbit dish over grits. His cocktail was red bell pepper with rum. Jeff’s dish was fried oysters with sausage made from scratch and a crawfish dish. His cocktail was a cucumber mojito, which was the judges’ favorite drink.

After much deliberation, Carla was chosen as the winner of this challenge. That meant Jeff would be going back to Miami and his Dilido Restaurant. Hosea was told his dish was great and was safe also. That left Fabio and Stefan as the bottom two. Even though they didn’t like his attitude, the judges decided to keep Stefan, sending Fabio Viviani back to his California restaurant.

The final three, Stefan, Hosea, and Carla, will now compete in one final challenge which will be televised next week on Bravo, and the winner of Top Chef Season 5 will be determined.
