Tracking the Location of an Alltel Cell Phone

Alltel’s Family Finder is Alltel’s way of keeping Family closer together and safe. Parents can keep tabs on their kids to make sure they aren’t where they shouldn’t be. There are some good things associated with the service, however there are also some limitations.

Subtlety
If someone is added to your Alltel plan they are sent one text message letting them know they are able to be located. That’s it. So you can feasibly find your kids and make sure they are okay without disturbing their activities.

Cost
The cost for Family Finder is $9.99 a month per phone being located. This could be considered a steep price, but if you are talking about your children’s safety and that knows no price.

Is This Thing on?
If the phone is not on, it can’t be tracked. So if you’ve got a sneaky teenager, they turn off their phone and they are out of your range. Be careful with that.

Where are you?
As long as the phone is getting service it can be located. The technology Alltel uses (CDMA) gets the best service in the United States, so it is very likely that the phone will get service where your family member is at. The Alltel locators use many different techniques to find the phone, however if the phone is in a building where there is no service the locators will not work.

Secure Information
Alltel will not share your family member’s location with anyone, and their databases are wiped after seven days to prevent some computer hacker to track your family member.
