The True Philadelphia Eagles ' Iggles ' Fan

January 5th 2009, The Holidays are over and the kids are back in school. I'm back to work and it's a beautiful day in the Delaware Valley. What a great Holiday season it was to be a Philadelphia Eagles fan. Three days after Christmas the Eagles Thumped the Cowboys in a thorough thrashing to gain the final wild card spot in the NFC Playoffs.
There's a lot of good karma in Philadelphia these days. How sweet it was to hear Troy Aikman and Joe Buck elude to the fact that the final score could be the largest margin of victory for the Eagles over the Cowboys since the rivalry began in the 1st year Dallas entered the league. Three days after New Years the Eagles beat the Vikings in the first round of the NFC Playoffs. The victory was sealed on the first screen play of the game for the Eagles to their franchise running back, Brian Westbrook, picking up blocks along the way culminating into a 71 yard touchdown. After that score, Jim Johnson's defense pinned back their ears and relentlessly blitzed Tarvaress Jackson.
Their next opponent: the reigning Superbowl Champion New York Giants. Good Karma? Could be. Who knows what could happen in an NFC East match up. Hey look, the Phillies were not favored in any short measure to win all their series and what happened there? Wait a minute, sorry I strayed off subject. Back to the 'Iggles'. If the Eagles win this Sunday the Band Wagon will officially be open going into the final weekend to see who will represent the NFC in the Superbowl.
Today 'Iggles' Fans are hopeful in anticipation of what could be. Iggles Fans? A True Philadelphia Iggles Fan who pronounces the word Eagles, 'Iggles', was probably born in Philadelphia and has eaten a Philly cheese stake where it orriginated. Pat's Famous Cheese steak where you can order a Philly Cheese stake w/ fried onions, wiz 'wit' or wiz 'witout' and have it served up before you can reach for your wallet. They might also frequent their local Acme 'Ackamee' Supermarket to do all their grocery shopping. A True Philadelphia Iggles Fan can recognize anyone who's not worthy of riding on the Band Wagon, from the casual Dallas Cowboy's Fan to the ESPN Sports Analyst.
I have been an Eagles Fan my whole life, born in Philadelphia but not raised there. Out of respect for The True Philadelphia Iggles Fans I leave the slang pronunciation in oral verbiage for the fans that were born and raised in Philadelphia. E-A-G-L-E-S Go Eagles!!!!
Eagles are Flying to the Southwestern border. Next stop Phoenix Arizona. Fly Eagles Fly on the road to victory!!!!

@myth Eagles Fight Song

The most common call from the Philly fans is "YOU SUCK" usually reserved for the opposing team, and TO (even when he was on the team). I posted a byte about the Eagles Fight Song Eagles Fight Song Byte CLICK HERE [img_assist|nid=279979|title=|desc=|link=url|url=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009KF54C?ie=UTF8&tag=xombafree-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0009KF54C|align=left|width=289|height=340]

a la Boomer none that I can

recall. The closest thing to resemble an echo call was often provoked by a running play from a former Eagles player, Duce Staley. Duce gets a touch and Dooooooose. Kinda like former Dallas fullback Moose Johnson you'st to get with the Cowboys. An Eagles fight song has resurfaced from the archives but I'm not sure what innitiates it.

Do the Eagles Have an 'Echo Call'? (a la "BOOMER ..." "...")?

Maybe 'echo calls' are more of a college-ball thing, but every Oklahoman who's lived long enough to be called an 'Okie' KNOWS that when someone yells 'BOOMER!' (in an appropriate crowd), the partyers echo "SOONER!" ("Boomer Sooner" being the name of the Oklahoma University Sooners' fight-song) Whoops; there I go 'marking myself as the "hick" of the bunch!' but trust me, I'm one of the least-'Pokey' in the entire state (I don't even know if I spelled that right, 'Pokey' being a fan of the the Oklahoma State University Cowboys [Cow-'Pokes']). ---Join Us Professional Friends who GET MONEY for Echoing the Universe: 'Bella?' @jdubhub been to Fort Dix

My brother graduated from Army boot camp there back in the early 80's. That particular area of the state is the cutoff between Eagles and Giants fans . Some root for the Eagles some the Giants. It still represents a good portion of farming in the Garden State. Small world the internet, you never know when a true Cowboy fan has come to town.

Yo! Die Hard Eagles Fan

Hey, youse guys, I was born and raised in and around Philly until I joined the Army..dat was a lawng time ago, lotta wadder under da bridge, thank gawd I don't tawk like dat anymore! Still have to root for the home teams every year..it's the law..if you were born in Philly and maybe get a job, move to Seattle and start rooting for the Seahawks, a couple of goons will come visit you and set you straight...It's true...really! I was stationed in Lakehurst, NJ for a short while

I have to thank the Navy for providing me with the opportunity to see the country, if not the world, even though I didn't realize the benefit at the time. Back in 1988, I was going to be billeted as a Navy Security Guard here in California, so they sent me to NSG school at the base in Lakehurst, New Jersey (the same Lakehurst where the Hindenburg met its end). To get there, we had to fly into Philadelphia, take the military bus to Fort Dix, then wait for the duty driver from Lakehurst to come pick us up. What I remember about the area was everything was green, but so spread apart. I had cabin fever one Sunday afternoon, but having no car and having just been stationed in Orlando, Florida where I could walk everywhere, I thought it would be fun to walk to Toms River. I made it maybe halfway there before I figured out that it was a smidge too far to walk. So, I called a cab and had it take me the rest of the way so I could go to the mall and see a couple of movies and have a meal. When I wanted to head back to base, I called for a cab. Two hours later, one finally showed up and the driver explained to me during the $50 cab ride back that there were only two cabs operating around there that night and the other guy was driving up to the airport in Newark. The Navy moved its NSG school to Texas a couple of years later, so I was one of the few sailors in that job spec that did the Lakehurst school. JOIN US IN TOASTING YOUR FUTURE SUCCESS!

A good country mile

somewhere south and east of the city off of Kings Highway. Gods country ; dairy farms, Cowtown, Jersey tomatoes, sweet corn, that sort of thing. Can't give out any more personal information than that. It's where I grew up but not where I live at the present time. My wife and I a private about our location but still live in the Delaware Valley.
