The truth about tithing

Will a man rob God? but yet you have robbed me even this whole nation. Whether a person attends church or not most people have heard about tithing and while only a small percentage of the church even does tithe tells the story about how people feel about
it. I have listed 5 reasons why people may refuse to tithe:
They refuse to tithe because they do not believe God's word
The truth is that people do not believe that God will open the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing and Hebrews 11:6 says without faith it is impossible to please him for he that comes to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. A God who is not pleased will not open windows of heaven to bless and so a person can become driven by fear. Afraid they will not have enough to make ends meet. The truth is this passage in Mal. is the only place in scripture where God says to test him. He's giving a challenge so you actualy have nothing to lose because if he does not come through...simply stop. But the truth is God will never be indebted to mankind.
Tithing was under the Law
- A second reason people refuse to tithe is because they say tithing is under the law when in fact tithing was before the law was even given because Abraham paid tithe to Melchisedek and the book of Hebrews says that Jesus is our high priest forever after the order of Melchisedek.
A third reason people refuse to tithe is because they are not willing to wait
God does not move in our time but Ecclesiastes 3 says that he makes all things beautiful in his time so we must trust him that he will meet our needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19)
People associate Ministers and preachers as crooks
Because the tithe is brought into the house of God many people feel as though their money will be abused and may I say that not every preacher is honest, and where a person gives their hard earned money they should have the right to see if things are honest but 2 Chron. 20:20 says to believe the Lord your God so shall you be established, but believe his prophets so shall you prosper!
A false belief that God is going to do everything
Many people give and then sit back and wait for the money to come back like a slot machine, but faith without works is dead being alone, which means that we must work and give God something to work through. Psalm 1 says that whatsoever a man doeth shall prosper, so if you don't do anything then you won't prosper because God needs something to bless.
I have personally practiced this principle for over 25 years, living on 90% and I can tell you that it does work but thats my experience. It wasn't all easy at times but I continued to trust his word in the hard times when it looked like it wasn't working until he came through for me.
