Truth Vs Lies and Deception

Truth Vs Lies and Deception

Truth is a small word but how many of us really "value" it in today's world? When I was a kid, we were taught that it was not okay to tell lies or deceive people. The value of telling the truth was drilled into us in most of our lessons, be it about Mahatma Gandhi or reading various story books that had the same moral in it in many different ways. The Enid Blyton books were filled with such stories, and she was one of my favorite authors at that time and age. I still love reading them.

The effect of all this education has made an honest person out of me. Too Honest! I found that I just couldn't tell a lie without being caught, as guilt would be clearly written all over my face. But, as the growing up process teaches us lots of things in life, I soon learned or should I say "Unlearned" that it was "okay" to tell lies, at times. In fact, it becomes almost necessary to lie or deceive sometimes as certain situations demand it of us.

One needs to only look and observe the people and society, including the world at large to realize that "truth" seems to have become an outdated term. If you look carefully at your own family, you will soon realize that there are so many things that are just superficial or "not exactly the truth". The world survives on lies and deception. Marketing any product is done through a series of lies that are essential in order to sell the product to people. False promises by politicians has become the need of the hour to gain votes. The newspapers are filled with only half-truths. They will let you know only what they THINK, you should know.

With the advent of the computer age, it has now become mandatory to lie. Most people register online in various websites with false identities. We are being pushed towards telling lies. Nobody knows the truth anymore. Does the truth even exist in today's world?

Seeing all the changes that are happening all around the world and with technology that is pushing humans further away from "reality", it is only natural that we will soon be living in a world of delusions or deceptions and soon a day may come, I fear, when we may not be able to distinguish between "Reality" and "Deception". In fact, "Deception" will become the "Reality" of tomorrow.

Therefore, I think, It is okay to tell lies!

@sanjay--Tell That to the Oklahoma City 'Missional Communities'

You say, "realise that technology is also providing people a big opportunity to enter into meaningful relationships where they are now willing to share their secrets" Well, I've been here at Xomba for almost two years; I'm pretty sure I've invited many Oklahoma City-ans to Xomba, but I have yet to see any of them 'spreading their truth' on Xomba! Are they ashamed of the secrets of 'their truth'? ---Buddha tells Uncle MythMan, "Flood the Open Eyes with the Truth, for as Long as You Exist!" Help Him Spread the Truth (about stuff) Here!

@ Sanjay. Let's hope

that what you say comes true. It would be good for mankind.

Truth

SK Rawnak, I feel otherwise.A time may come when people will be forced to transform themselves because they will realise that lies are destroying their personality. A time may come when their conscience will tell that I should stop.Yes,technology is leading to more lies. But then you must realise that technology is also providing people a big opportunity to enter into meaningful relationships where they are now willing to share their secrets.A spiritual revolution is on in the society where people are trying to find their identity. This means they are too fed up of falsehood.I feel terrorism will unite the people across the world one day and then real values including truth will flow in the society.Because, you know one trigger is important to make the people, politicians and policy-makers wake up from their slumber.Truth will in the end reign supreme, because the existence of the world has to continue. It can not survive on lies. For my posts visit www.xomba.com/user/sanjay

@rawnak-Mythman--WE ARE THE MATR--... REALITY-MAKERS!

Don't get me wrong; there's one level of reality that's 'just you and those "really" in your vicinity' ('nothing I write touches you except as you touch yours--...' well, you know what I mean). But everything on the computer's screen, -on the television, -in the news-rags and -in the movies is ITS OWN REALITY as far as the audiences are concerned; being little more than an example to use in the analysis of your own reality ... sort of brings up the 'confession-booth'-rule: 'whatever happened there shall remain there, only being known anywhere else if it happens anywhere else ... again.' ... but Uncle MythMan still KNOWS you're more awesome than NFL Cheerleaders, yet needs to hear *your* comments on http://is.gd/2s8V http://is.gd/22wY http://is.gd/1fSs http://is.gd/1fRg http://is.gd/1fSe & http://is.gd/1fSj -- Click His Stamp to Discover!

@ Mythman

But then that's exactly my point. "deception" will soon become the "reality" of tomorrow. We would be living in a world of "Virtual" Reality.

At the Same Time, It's Becoming Both Less- & More Possible to!

I started out just saying 'less possible to deceive,' as you've got cameras everywhere and more-&-more ways to get 'hard' evidence that you in-fact did what you claim not to have done; But it's thusly als more-possible for OTHERS to deceive people against you, (video?)-/photo-shopping your likeness into all sorts of 'evidence.' Even these words---they might be MythMan's, they could even be HotGirl's for all anyone knows; maybe they'll be here as testimony to the 'fact' that this account wrote them, maybe our merciful moderator will decide that they are too good to have come from any "mortal" Xombie (I think 'mortalness' is one of the prerequisites of Xombieness, yes?) and will delete any trace of it (but the 'scar' upon lucky readers' souls). ... but Uncle MythMan still KNOWS you're more awesome than NFL Cheerleaders, yet needs to hear *your* comments on http://is.gd/2s8V http://is.gd/22wY http://is.gd/1fSs http://is.gd/1fRg http://is.gd/1fSe & http://is.gd/1fSj -- Click His Stamp to Discover!

Thanks Mamamia,

for your comments and your vote. Your point about sucking up to the boss is what is happening in real life. But, my point here is that the "Job description" would not have mentioned that the employee is supposed to take care of the boss's son as well? does it? I call that exploitation!

Right Rawnak

In fact, at times, I feel that our whole Administration system and the society at large, itself, promotes or encourages this kind of behavior and people. Who do you think will get promoted at the work place We unfortunately promote getting around the system, getting things done and even if its at the cost of others, it gets appreciated. I guess that comes from living in a country where the resources are limited or skewedly distributed and the users many. As for sucking upto the boss - its human nature to notice people who are doing things for you or sweet talking you. I mean, wouldn't you feel a preference for an employee who wakes up at four in the morning to pick up your son from the airport, rather than one who just does his job honestly! i have come to understand that - hence prefer doing my own stuff:-) Latest Football News At http://www.plainfooty.blogspot.com/ My writings here My profile here My Xomba blog

You said it!

What i was trying to say! It is like fear, one can either stand his ground and face the fear thereby overcoming it or run away and be afraid all his life. Truth and honesty are like that. One can either face them or keep living with the falseties throughout his life, which may be impossible. More often than not, it is the liar who is living with the truth. The others, who have been lied to, remain happy in their ignorance. Unless of course one is so adept, that he is lying to himself. Bare Essentials
