Turtle Treasures

You need to do some research before you purchase a pet turtle. They are very cute when they are babies. Turtles grow and they grow fast and they can live 20 years or more. Do not make an impulse decision in the pet
store. Go home think about it and research. Check out this great site for facts and pictures. http://www.dianeszoo.com/turtles.htm
I shop and buy all my turtles at a local pet store. http://www.bobsfeatheredfriendsinc.com
If you plan to purchase a turtle the best place is a reputable establishment. I have seen those vans alongside the road selling turtles but you don’t know anything about them. Where will you go if you have a question or concern? And turtles do get sick. You should check your area for a reptile veterinarian.
Considerations before your turtle purchase. The environment in which you will keep your turtle is important for the health of the turtle. Buy big because they will grow into it very soon. You have to clean their habitat on a regular basis. Where will you keep this 30 gallon tank? If you have an outside pond remember turtles are vulnerable to predators. Your docile friendly dog can do serious harm to a turtle. And storks like to have the babies for appetizers.
Do all your research before your purchase. Speak with several pet stores. Have a plan if you are unable to keep your long living friend. Do not dispose of him to the wild. He was bred in captivity and is not acclimated to fending for himself in the neighborhood pond.
