Twinkle Twinkle Rip Van Winkle

Twinkle Twinkle Rip Van Winkle

Oh how I would love to be like Rip Van Winkle, if only for a year. Just long enough that the worst of these times would run their destructive course and things would once again feel as they did before, when life was more carefree. To sleep and dream and give in to the numbing comfort of not knowing what is going on around me.

To awaken refreshed and unaware of that which has passed me by (oh the bliss of ignorance) and not to worry about what may be coming. The past blinking away as a quickly fading dream -no hurt, no pain. The present is the only concern all else forgotten.

Oh yes, the beauty of sleep; no responsibilities, no problems, just the lovely dreams that come with perfect rest.

Rip Van Winkle had a good plan... fall asleep happy - wake up happy. To miss some of the hard decisions and struggles that only serve to teach us the same lessons over and over. Life, taxes, death - love, hate, joy, sorrow all that can be found in the moments in between sleeping and waking.

The peace that would come with no liabilities, no guilt - no burdens. Let the others take care of the chores for a change.

Hmm...I wonder if that opens up the possibility of breakfast in bed.

Sometimes a nap that long sounds so good..

And sometimes I feel like I could sleep that long. Great article. Thank you for posting.

I like the concept, binkdonk

I can look back at times in my past when I really would have liked to have had a time out from my life. (I can think of a lot of those when I was in the Navy. LOL) Great article. +1 DO YOU HAVE THE WRITE STUFF?

zamiel

Myth, the dictionary you link to doesn't have an entry for "zamiel." The mystery continues...

A dime a dozen

Thanks I think mythman, it does ring of melancholy a bit I guess, but I have to say, I run into "zamiel" types in my area quite often during the waking hours, it's a normal thing in the northern Ontario forest in fact, the town I live in is three quarters french and many of them recently unemployed... BinkDonk, This Is the Perfect Lullaby for the Troubled Thinker!

Just add a few tense-changes (changing "if to be" into 'as I am') and some repetition, and you've got the perfect bedtime-affirmation! Especially adding the ever-hoped-for breakfast-in-bed! ... signed, Uncle MythMan---Big Fan of Friend-Networks like Hi-5 - About SuperBust, Watch Me
