Your remark about the UFC caught my interest, Mike. I have conflicting thoughts about it. Sometimes I wonder if it signals a trend toward a 21st century version of gladiator fighting where at the end of the match, the winner will be given a handgun to blow the loser's head to pieces. Then I wonder how much worse is UFC than boxing, and conclude that it's no worse at all. There's not a lot to be said for boxing, where ultimate victory (a knockout) is produced by inducing brain damage. I agree that UFC will eventually make boxing go the way of the standing broad jump, but only because we like variety in our violence. Flyswatter Xomba Moderator
