It's of course called football because you use your feet to kick the ball! It's not complicated! So please Americans ,when talking about european football do NOT use the term soccer! few days ago, I watch a video where Robbie Williams was interviewed, and pronounced the word SOCCER with a brilliant, bright British accent! ;-) ;-)

Believe it or not - Soccer is a bastardized version of Football Association - the Football governing body in England started in 1863. They apparently broke it down to assoc. From there it went from soca to soker to soccer.
