Uncle Sam provides Real Estate Advice?

As any person who has tried selling or buying some property will tell you, it can be intimidating or even frustrating. Many people who have hired a real estate professional end up questioning who is taking more advantage of them: the bank they are dealing with or the broker they are dealing with. While there are no 100% successful real estate advice that can be given, a new pamphlet exists that provides real estate advice or tips that will help anyone who is new to buying and selling real estate. And believe it or not the real estate advice or tips come from Uncle Sam. Yes the United States Government is really trying to help.

This pamphlet that provides real estate advice was issued by the Federal Trade Commission for the purpose of answering some of the most common frequently asked questions when buying and selling real estate. Selling Your Home? Tips for Selecting a Real Estate Professional is the title of this unique creative pamphlet that provides sound real estate advice. It focuses in on the proper amount a person should pay or expect to pay for the commission that a real estate professional earns for providing their assistance, the basics of common real estate contracts, and different types of business models.

While the pamphlet has only four pages, it is still full of helpful real estate advice. There is a section that talks about commissions which explains that if your real estate professional advises you that there is a federal or local law in place that says the rate of commission cannot change, no law exists so find a broker who is more of an honest person. This pamphlet encourages beginners at buying and selling property to negotiate with your broker for a lower commission rate.

In another section, the pamphlet explains how when you hire full-service real estate broker they will do almost anything to help you and when you hire a discount broker there will be limitations to what the real estate professional will do for you or what the real estate professional is willing to do for you. This pamphlet also says a difference between full service brokers and discount brokers is that the full service broker normally has all services included for the one flat rate, while the discount broker would normally let you choose which specific services you need and not have to pay for those services you do not use.

The pamphlet provides lots of helpful real estate advice from how to negotiate a contract in your favor, to where to find trustworthy real estate professionals. Now taking advice from Uncle Sam on raising your kids may not be the best suggestion, but the helpful real estate advice in this pamphlet is definitely worth suggesting. You can view the pamphlet by going to the FTC’s website www.ftc.gov/credit.
