Obama campaign called

In a conference call yesterday, the Obama campaign called on Mrs. Clinton to release a trove of documents that she has failed thus far to make public, including her most recent tax returns, the funding projects she has requested as a senator, a list of all donors to President Clinton's library and foundation, and White House records from her time as first lady.

Thanks for the Update Celanith

Thanks for the update. I'm glad he has family in Oregon to help him, and you told him that the local employment office can help him with computer applications. Always wonder how people's lives are going. Family help is what makes or breaks the situation. God bless you for helping your brother, and his wife.

Glad

I am always sad when I hear that someone has been laid off. It is so difficult to get another job, especially for someone who is older. I sympathize with your brother. Glad to hear that he is doing everything possible to get another job. I wish him the best of luck.

Hi Wagen Load

Celanith Hello everyone, stop and set awhile. My brother and his wife and a friend spent two months living with us and got things going enough that they are back in The Dalles, Oregon again. Where he knows people and has lots of contacts. I told him the employment office will help him with applications for jobs requiring computer applications. He has also contacted Swift Trucking as he used to drive for them about 10 years ago before he got his bus driving job. His step daughter is grown up now so he has no need to be home as much. His wife stays with her mom if he goes on the road. He is planning or may already be taking a re-fresher course to drive for them or someone. Meanwhile he picked pears for a month which helped some. He is not one to be out of work long but finds it harder to get work at his age. Right now he is getting Oregon extended 13 weeks which runs out Mid January. He is hoping to be working before then but I will let him know to check into the federal extension as well in case he needs it while he finishes training or something.

Hello everyone, stop and set awhile.

It is actually 7 weeks in some

states and 13 weeks in the states that were hardest hit ,in addition to the earlier extension past for 13 weeks. In other words it is a combined extension of 20 weeks and 26 weeks for those states that were hardest hit.Any state with an unemployment rate above 6% would be entitled to the additional 13 weeks of benefits over and above the 13 weeks past back in June . Botomline is if you have exausted or are nearing exhausting the original 13 weeks you will recieve annother 7 weeks at the very least.

Help Your Brother

Celenith. The state is so far behind processing unemployment that I hear they are 10 weeks behind. It seems every Tom, Dick, and Harry thinks Phoenix, AZ is a Mecca for jobs, and move here, and then files. You can file here and AZ will collect the money from other states.I won't see a check for 10 weeks. Compounding this problem, Arizona is now the foreclosure capital of the US, and construction had fueled the economy. Anyway he can't move here. There are no jobs. Once people get here they have no social network, and they fail. Have him stay where he is. You can help him. I am also middle aged, and know enough that I have to increase my computer skills to survive in this economy, and it is not discriminatory. If nothing else, you need to offer to give him lessons, and he can help you apply on-line for him. Ask at his local library where he can find free computer classes in his community. Also, have him ask what job hunting classes are available. Here in Maricopa County, we have a center which offers free computer classes, resume writing, etc. Even the library offers free computer classes. He needs to take advantage of this time off to increase his skills. And good luck to him.

My brother will be glad to here this

Celanith My brother is in Oregon and has been unemployed now for 16 months, he just got his 13 week extension and still has not found work. He is 57 and it is harder for older folks to find work. Everyone wants people to apply online but he has no computer skills and struggling to find work in a computer age. He was a school bus driver has his CDL they laid him off and did not call him back. They called back others and then hired a young woman in his place. He protested but nothing so far has come of it. He tried to get a job with greyhound they are hiring but he has to have computer skills they said and apply online no paper applications accepted. This is wrong and discrimination of older Americans who have not got computer skills. He has no money to take classes. He lost his rental of 17 years due to job loss and lower income and living in a travel trailer with his disabled wife. She gets $997 a month.

Hello everyone, stop and set awhile.

Not saying it isn't necessary, WLP. Just questioning the source.

I don't disagree with the idea of unemployment insurance, but I do have an issue with those who caused the need for it with bad policy decisions at the corporate executive and government levels not being held accountable for their self-serving actions, while people who are just scraping by ourselves (that's you and me and every other taxpayer) being expected to foot the bill. The bureaucracy in Washington is being awfully free with our children and grandchildren's futures. JOIN XOMBA IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO ADD!

Hey I'm on Unemployment

Hey I'm on unemployment. And I will report my Xomba earnings to the state. And they will get deducted from my grand total of $240 per week! I promise to stimulate the economy as much as I can with the money, and do my patriotic duty. Mostly just paying my car insurance bill. Anyway Jdubhub count your blessings! If you were trying to pay your son's bills, and your wife was unemployed you would be thankful for this. I know you are a stay at home Dad, and that's good that someone is home with your child. Anyway, I would be living on the street if it wasn't for my parents, my online money, and the little bit I get from unemployment. Thank goodness I have no unemployed husband, or any husband for that matter to worry about in these tough economic times, plus children to worry about also! All employed people, and their spouses give thanks this Thanksgiving!

More spending of money we don't have

What's a few billion dollars more to stick to our grandchildren? The money for this bill should be taken out of any other stimulus/bailout packages and--especially--out of the pockets of any bailed out executives from their "performance bonuses". JOIN XOMBA IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO ADD!
