Update from Xomba

Hey Everyone,

Nick, here, with a few bulletins from the Xomba HQ.

First, we want to congratulate all of you for making last month our best month. Many of you broke the $100 mark for earnings in a month with some of you coming in over $1,000. That is fantastic. Keep up the hard work.

We would also like to congratulate the winners in the Xomblurb contest and let the rest of you know we'll be starting the next round on Wed Oct. 10th. The points will be reset then.

Announcing the Halloween Fiction and Non-Fiction Contest

Starting today we're looking for the best Halloween/Spooky Fiction and Non-Fiction work you can write.

We'll be selecting (2) winning Xombytes that will be chosen by our staff to be listed under the featured Xombyte section through Oct. 29th - Nov 9th.

This contest ends on Oct 26th at 11:00pm EST.

To enter just post your Xombyte as normal, but place the phrase Halloween Contest in the tag section above the body of your Xombyte.

Have fun and no Xomblurbs allowed for this contest.

Later this week we will be providing more details on our upcoming referral contest.

New Editions to Xomba

We've been working on redesigning the website and we've made a few minor temporary changes over the weekend. First, the links to Xombytes on the bottom of the front page now come directly from Xomba. So, if you are writing in those categories then there is a good chance you'll have your work on the front page at least for a while. This is reserved for Xombytes only.

The What's Hot category on the front page is still empty because we are working on getting the vote ranking system working. We're having a slight problem tallying the vote results, but we expect to have it cleared up very soon. Once that happens you will see more changes on the site that has to do with voting results! Which will weigh quality over quantity(number of reads). Only users can vote so start voting now. (Please note: We will not be getting rid of the popular blocks.)

We're also starting the Featured Xombytes section on the front page as well. Every week or two we will select 3-4 new Xombytes that we feel are the very best.

Rule Updates and Notices

Xomba has a new moderator that will be on the website about 20 hours a week. His user name is Xomba Moderator, but you can call him Dave. Please do not hesitate to send him a message if you have questions.

We've updated our posting rules slightly. Basically, we've noticed more and more people posting Xomblurbs as Xombytes. Xombytes are reserved for magazine type articles NOT for social bookmarking. While they CAN contain links that should not be the sole purpose of the Xombyte.

We've also noticed users not linking to where there Xomblurb says they are linking. You MUST link to where you say you're going to link to. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Please read What is a Xomblurb? for more info.

If you violate these rules we will temporarily ban you until you acknowledge that you have read the rules. We need to crackdown a little harder to make sure we maintain the highest quality website possible.

As always you maintain the rights to what you post!

Tips on Making Money

We're approaching the holiday season rather quickly. Start writing about it today. Google Trends is already showing that people are searching for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

This Xombyte www.xomba.com/hot_toys_for_christmas_2007 has made about $26 dollars for the author so far. That means over $50 total!

Longer Xombytes can pay more than shorter Xomblurbs in the long run.

For example, a holiday toy article I wrote for last Christmas has started making money again.

It is worth noting that Xomblurbs (if it is in the news) can pay big. Just remember if you are copying someone else you probably won't get squat. Users who post first tend to bring in all the traffic. Copying does not pay, instead try to look for a different angle.

Make sure you PROOFREAD your content before and after you post especially when it comes to the title.

If you have any questions make sure you Let Us Know.

We'll be in touch,
Nick
