This lens is an introduction to Urban Fantasy, a relatively new subgenre of fiction. It is also sometimes known as Contemporary Fantasy or, occasionally, Supernaturals.

For purposes of this lens, Urban Fantasy is fiction in which magical or supernatural elements are placed in a modern-world context, that does not fit neatly into "horror". The world may even be more "advanced" than modern in some cases. Decisions on what's In and what's Out are, of course, subjective, and I don't claim to have read everything in the field....
