US Trade Deficit - Track Deficit By Country

Everyone knows that the US trade deficit with the rest of the world continues to grow at an unsustainable pace. But where are all the dollars going? The linked website from the US Census Bureau lists each and every country of the world (from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe) and a month-by-month accounting of US trade deficits (and in some cases, surpluses).

August 2008 Examples include (in millions of dollars):
China
Exports = $6,506.7
Imports = $31,840.2
Balance (deficit) = -$25,333.5

Afghanistan
Exports = $35.7
Imports = $2.1
Balance (surplus) = $33.5

Zimbabwe
Exports = $18.3
Imports = $8.3
Balance (surplus) = $9.9

It looks like all the relatively small surpluses are dwarfed by the huge deficit with China...

export drive! invade everywhere!

It is also scraping the barrel when they have to add an invading army and missiles as an export - see Afghanistan. I'm sure it's an idea that has crossed the Pentagon minds - invade the whole world to increase exports. Money for your Thoughts - join now OWO-BV

Trade deficit

Interesting stuff. We even have a trade deficit with Canada!
