A useful hint for blogspotters when commenting

A useful hint for blogspotters when commenting

While wandering through my entrecard drops today, I came across a really useful hint.

I have already optimized both of my blogs for dofollow links from comments, so was somewhat perplexed to find that I didn't seem to be getting many backlinks according to google.

Now I know what was preventing it. If you comment on someone else's blogspot blog from YOUR blogspot blog, you get a little window up in which to write your comment.

At the end of it, you are asked to give your ID details. Now the tempting thing is to do the easiest and check 'use your blogspot iD'.

However, what this will cause, apparently, is the backlink to point not at your blog, but at your blogspot PROFILE.

Not only does it leave the blog owner wondering what blog they should visit - if like me, you have two, but it prevents Google from giving your blog 'link juice' by creating a backlink directly to it.

So, what you should use, is the Name/URL option. Takes a moment longer, but could result in massively improved PR ranking in the long term

Try it and see - why not visit one of my blogs and leave me a comment using the Name/URL to identify yourself. If you are an entrecarder, you will get on my drop list and you never know what else you might find to amuse/interest/profit your online efforts.

@j.s-me--Clearing Up Some Accusations: God & Breasts

First of all, I AM a 'blogspotter' (http://ancientworldbloggers.blogspot.com/ http://hotforhotforwords.blogspot.com/ http://godnamesgod.blogspot.com/ http://marshilldiggings.blogspot.com/ http://closeikaraoke.blogspot.com/), but I don't care about my blogspotterism so much as my Xombieism. Through the Xombieism, you see that SEO is really a truly-secondary thing ... true, it seems primary (as one's 'level of optimization' is a result of the webmaster's writing); but the placement HAPPENS as a result of the search-engineers' perception. Hang around Xomba long enough, and you'll see that the topics that are 'hot' are typically names that are connected to popular subjects like God and Breasts. Breasts, in truth, are signs of the overflowing abundance of the gifts of God. "God," says the late, great Michael Crichton's 'Sphere' in the novel -Sphere-, "is a word." One of it's base-meanings is 'The Invoked,' usually in reference to appreciation for 'Breasts' (or whatever words you want to assign to 'good things.') But if you're only interested in SEO, this will help: Yahoo Buzz and Google Hot Topics will show you names that are highly-searched ... whatever algorhythms the SEs use, those names are well-connected to popular subjects. Analyze those connections and use them to popularize your SE-submissions. ---Uncle MythMan (http://www.geocities.com/jmythh2k5) & the Xombies Help You with Money, Love, God etc. Use Your Evolved Mind & GET PAID BY SAVING THE DIALOG STARTERS!

what was all that about?

what exactly are you trying to say? It wasn't all clear. Only the part about putting HTML in the comment body was understandable. If you go to a Blogspot blog you can always find the profile of the writer on the blog page. Not a problem. Generally speaking if another blogspotter (which you are not) comments one of my blogposts, I usually like to see what that person writes first because it tells me a lot about them. In particular it usually indicates if they know what they are talking about! Then, if I am inspired by the writing, I will take a look at the profile. However, the whole point of making sure your backlink shows your BLOG URL is that it enhances your Google rating for the blog. What did your links say about you? Apparently you would rather discuss your ideas about God and the universe and girls with large mammaries than anything related to SEO. Regret not interested.

Oh! Google DOESN'T Read Minds!

True, they do have all kinds of resources designed to help direct you to what you want; but that doesn't mean they already know what you want. The name-links on comments seem more-attuned to the question "Who is this person?" than to "What else does this person write?" Answering 'who is this person?' with "http://angrybutton.blogspot.com/" is similar to answering "Where do you make port?" with 'ΣΡΑM - ΣΡΑM - ΣΡΑM - ΣΡΑM - ΣΡΑM - ΣΡΑM - ΣΡΑM ...' Actually, in most comments there you can put in HTML to link to your blog from the comment-body ... sort of like some people do here (as the avatars above our comments only lead to our profile pages). ---Uncle MythMan (http://www.geocities.com/jmythh2k5) & the Xombies Help You with Money, Love, God etc. Use Your Evolved Mind & GET PAID BY SAVING THE DIALOG STARTERS!
