The medical establishment seems to be unaware of the fact that some people, myself included, are unable to gain weight, other than their acknowledgement of malabsorption disorders, such as celiac sprue. Thus, medical discussions, lectures, etc. seem to consider only caloric intake vs. caloric expenditure, and factors which influence them. This, as you and I know, is not the full picture. However, this message is accepted by the general public, and thus, anyone who is not overweight is assumed to be that way through their own volition. I believe some of the rude comments comes from this assumption, in addition to general lack of manners or courtesy.
I am new to xomba, but would like to organize those who would be willing to support a movement toward parental licensure, or at least wider requirement of parental education. I really don't know how the Xomba site works, or how to ask people to contact me through the site if they would be interested. Any suggestions?
