Bio: J. Rick Cagle, born January 5, 1951 in N. Alabama. Left home in 1969 to see the world, Uncle Sam style...U.S. Navy. Though it was during the time of the Vietnam Conflict, I following the plan of my government traveled to parts of the Caribbean (including Cuba 1970-71) and then eventually every naval port of call in the Mediterranean. In 1972 while home ported out of Mayport (adjacent to Jacksonville) Florida, I met and eventually married my wife (of 34+ years) Martha. Upon completion of my military obligation (autumn of 73) I remained unemployed for almost six months (spring of 74) when I began work for one of the local law enforcent agencies. We had two sons (Rickey and Brian). Rickey and his wife eventually gave us two grandaughters and two grandsons. Brian, one other grandaughter. I retired from law enforcement after a 30+ year service to our community. I have remained so up until the current time where I love to spend most of time enjoying sports, music, and some writing. I have only limited personal success and gradification from my writing in the sense that I have designed and printed my own [all] occassion cards, including words and verse. I dabble at poetry. I have one published piece. I have recently ventured into the world of the peaceful Cherokees by visiting my very first Pow Wow with the Cherokees of Georgia, in St. George, Georgia. Though vaguely aware of my family's lineage having roots in that world, I never was fully aware or educated about the serenity or the simple and basic philosophy of life that these people......my people share.
