Using the Right Keyword Gives You the Key to Success

Selecting the right keywords and/or keyword phrases play a large role in the ranking of your website and makes all the difference in the world for getting search engine traffic. Many internet marketers do not succeed because of the lack of understanding how this gives anyone the key to success for making money on the internet.

Social networking sites are great for getting a great deal of traffic and improving your Alexa ranking, but search engine traffic is consistent and sustainable traffic that, once targeted, will convert into sales. And, that should be your goal in marketing on the internet. The goal is to get a good percentage of visitors to click and convert a percentage of the clicks into sales.

It's important to get on the first, second, or third page of Google's search engine traffic. Most searchers do not go beyond the third page.

Make sure your site or page includes a few keywords that relate to one another. Keyword spamming and overloading your page with unrelated terms you want high ranking on is the first mistake most webmasters make.

Use the right keywords by making sure you are using the words that your targeted audiences are likely to type in the search box. After all, what good is top ranking on keywords that nobody types in.

If you don't know which keywords will be best for you try viewing the source of your competitors' pages. This will reveal the words others are generally already having success with. However, to get top ranking with the search engine, you need to find out which keywords have at least a fair amount of searches but less competition.

Also, you could use Google's free service for finding keywords. And, don't forget to get creative and think about keywords or keyword phrases you would type in to search for information. Take this method of marketing seriously. Try to have a small writing pad with you at all times and ask your clients, friends, relatives, and colleagues about keywords they would use to find you. You might find that to be a fun and invaluable resource for finding the right keyword which gives you the key to your success.

Simple

Just go View --> Source in you browser on the top. Edit: Ah... beaten... but if you're using Internet Explorer then do this...

Thanks

Well, I use a Mac and the Firefox browser. At the very top of your computer you will see a "Firefox bar" (or whatever browser you use, it will be similar). Just click on "View" then click on "Page Source." I have a PC but it's turned off right now. If it's a competitor's website you will see the "meta" tags such as keywords/phrases and description. However, the webmaster has the ability to cloak that information. If you retrieve the info. you still should go to Google's keyword tool, for example, and research the keyword to see if the competition is too stiff. I don't use that method myself, but some webmasters use it often. My favorite method is to research my keyword phrases at Google's Free Keyword Tool. Also, I have used other Keyword Research Tools. The other tools I have used charge for their service, but it's worth it once you become more experienced in SEO... Hope that helps.

great article.. one question

great article...but how do you view a competitor's source page?
