Using the word Christian as a Weapon

I have seen this way too many times just in the past few months.
I am a Christian.
Now, what does than mean?
It means that I Believe that Jesus died on the cross for me. My love for him is overwhelmingly huge. I try and make choices in my life that He would approve of.
Do I make mistakes?
Yes, How can I not?
I'm human.
Being a Christian does not automatically make you a perfect person. It gives you a more loving spirit and makes you realize your mistakes and convicts you.
There are some people that get on your nerves and do things that irritate you.
I'm sure some people feel the same about me.
If they are a new Christian and not real strong in their faith I will try to guide them and sometimes they do the same for me.
But, I still get mad at people, I try and watch my words because I know that once I say something I can't take it back. It still happens sometimes.
All I can do is ask God to forgive me and ask that person to forgive me.
Remember that the person may not forgive you but that is OK.

Back to the word Christian being used wrongly.

You can't say things like:
"If they were real Christians they wouldn't do that".
That is false. Real Christians make mistakes too.

"That is not very Christian of them".
This is usually used when someone is trying to make themselves look better in a situation.

People need to stop throwing the word Christian as a weapon and tool or even a shield.
I say it is wrong to constantly try and point out all the flaws of everyone else to make an argument or to win one.

Some people say that if you are a Christian you can't judge people.
That is wrong, and right. The Bible tells us we can't judge non-Christians, people that don't have salvation.
We can judge other Christians and the Bible tells us to.
There is a wrong and right way to do it. You can't judge someone if you don't like them, it would not be fair. It has to be in a loving way and a Godly way and be about something that would hurt them if they continued to do whatever they are being judged for. You also have to make sure you are not doing it for your own pleasure, to point something out bad about the person. You need to pray about it and talk to your pastor about it before anything is said. Sometimes all we have to do is pray for the person and let God handle it. The person does not have to hear it from another person. God works in our hearts as well.

Christians are just people what have a faith and trust in Jesus. We don't go around telling people what they are doing wrong, or that they don't go to the right church. We don't tell people anything but the LOVE of GOD and HIS SON, the LOVE he has for them.
I love Jesus and try to make the words that come out of my mouth and in my writing glorify him.

Sorry

"Christians are just people what have a faith and trust in Jesus. We don't go around telling people what they are doing wrong, or that they don't go to the right church. "

Sorry but you are wrong. Go to any abortion clinic and see how many self proclaimed Christians are telling women they are doing something wrong. How about when the Pope tells you that if you use contraceptives you are doing something wrong? Or when a Christian preacher preaches that homosexuals deserved to die? Or how about when your told that if you don't like reciting the Pledge of Allegiance with the "Under God" phrase (which is your right under a "freedom of religion country"), you are a commie heathen to be prosecuted (See McCarthy). Christians themselves have hid behind the word and deserve to have thrown back at them. You can not have it both ways. You may not believe in the doctrine of your brothers but you reap what you sow. You cannot expect that others will believe the same as you nor should they. After years of religious persecution of others Christians in my opinion deserve what they get.

Maybe you meant this is what good Christians or true Christians do? But then you would be using that Christian word in a bad way again.

A choice or destiny

... or just you were born in a family with a particular religion: there are more or less the same basic ideas in all religions, if you read all holy books.
Perhaps you're right, maybe you're wrong: you cannot be sure!
How? If you believe in Jesus, that's good for you, if you're in the opinion, that's the right way to live for you and to respect the other around you. Religion was just an education form, at the beginning... don't forget!

Great Article

I really loved your article. Having a strong religious background myself, I know what you mean.

Christians are humans as you brought out and make mistakes. That's why Jesus died. He knew we all are sinners.

In my life I have come across a few people I would not consider true Christians because of the Unchristian way they behave. To me that is not judging but making choices on whom I want to associate with. Like you said we should pray for those ones. That's what the Bible says to pray for people.

You obviously did not read my blog. I said that those that do what you are describing are not true Christians because they are using the word as a weapon. I am not Catholic, so nothing the pope says means anything to me, he is just a man and we are not supposed to worship anyone other then God. The people in front of abortion clinics are wrong because they are not showing love for the person going through it, just the baby. Read my blog again with less anger and you will see that you got it all wrong. I don't expect anyone to believe how I do just because I do, but don't condemn me because I believe how I do. I have never pushed my belief on anyone. I have shared if anyone wants to here or talk about it, there is a difference. I will not hide my believe. I also don't think that we should change the Pledge (because that was the way it was written)just because some don't like it. Just don't say it. Your attack on me was no different then how you think Christians are.

Christ is My Saviour Too

+1

For the most part I would agree with the way you have written it. Religion is a tough topic to write about without raising some opposition. But on the up side, it is a great topic to rally some votes and comments!

Christianity continues to be eroded and watered down from so many angles. If one thing is clear the end times are nearer than they have ever been before. False teachings and their followers abound.

Your Giant +1 Is Why.....

To the person who considers himself just your average nice guy, this giant +1 would explain it all. Did you make every +1 you've ever given out this big? Or did you just want to show the "average nice guy" like me that you are a CHRISTIAN? Let's all read that you are a CHRISTIAN!!! You know something? I think the people who truly love and believe in God don't feel the need to go around and let the world know that they are CHRISTIAN!!!! Okay I'm ready....I can feel a Bible being thrown my way....

I Agree mrbronco

I agree mr bronco. I believe that you don't have to go to church every Sunday to be a good Christian. I believe all you have to do is treat others with kindness and respect. Be honest. I have learned what you put out you get back. You put out evil, you get evil. You put out kindness and respect, you get those back in return. You put out negativity, you get back negativity. Be positive, you get positive back. It rains and shines on everyone Christian or not. Good and bad things happens to everyone. Just because you are a christian does not make you exempt from tragedy or sorrow.

LOL

Actually Mr. Bronco, et al,

I just put a big plus one because I recently learned how to change the size, of my text, and I thought a big +1 when you give someone a vote, is cooler to look at the a tiny little +1.

It appears to have gotten your attention, but not for the right reason. I have used a few other Big +1's since this one, and I like giving them. I think if I got one that looked like that, I would take all the more enjoyment from seeing it.

No more no less. :)

No bible flying your way.
