Uttar Pradesh Government Cancels Land Allotment for Rail Coach Factory

The Hindu reports that the acquisition order of 189.25 hectares of land to be used for a rail coach factory was canceled on Sunday, further intensifying the rift between the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party and the UPA government.

The cancellation comes just days before Sonia Gandhi was to preside over the ground-breaking ceremony.

Reasons given for the cancellation were protests by local farmers and an official stated that the Rae Bareli District Magistrate has been tasked to find an alternate site for the factory.
