vacation tips - phrases to know before you travel abroad

Greetings such as hello, good morning, good evening , and goodbye

To make things very simple you could always ask some of the natives if they speak English

How to say yes and no , please and thank you

How to ask another person's and say your own name such as my name is ______

How to express your desires for example I'm hungry, I'm cold, I'm sick , Etcetera

To ask for directions including I'm lost, where is , and how do I get to?

Pertinent vocabulary words such as hotel. hospital, doctor, restaurant, Etcetera

Phrases such as where can I get the Bus?, how do I get a taxi? and how many miles to a particular point?

It is important to know the number system and currency, as well as the exchange rate and how to handle money

Other basic vocabulary such as names of clothing items, colors, and parts of the body

It is important to know how to say please help me, and I am hurt , and call an ambulance

Purchasing phrases such as how much is?, what size is? and weights and measures

Familiarize yourself with words for common items such as paper, pencil, telephone , Etcetera

The names of foods, dinnerware, and beverages is important

Sometimes you may need to be familiar with the roles of people such as waitress. priest , or police officer , Etcetera

If you know a bit of the language, it is important to know how to ask the natives to speak more slowly. more loudly, or more clearly

Typical every day words we use such as rooms of the house, personal care items, utensils and even names of animals

Familiarize yourself with the metric and centigrade systems

It may be a good idea to brush up on weather words such as rain , temperature, and names of storms and weather related emergencies

Brushing up on any local terminology and catch phrases could also help alleviate a minor confusions

This is a basic list, although it may seem lengthy to you it's best to know more than not enough
