Vampire Adventure Games
posted October 15, 2009 - 9:19amThanks to Stephanie Meyer's Twilight series, vampires are a hot topic, and not just on Halloween. In fact, vampire stories have been scaring people for over 300 years -- even longer if you consider vampire-like tales under different names.
Like vampires, adventure games have been brought back from the dead recently, with many new titles appearing on the market this year. Not surprisingly, vampire adventure games have had a resurgence in popularity. Below are a few vampire adventures you might enjoy. Have your silver bullets ready!

Neroli's Comment: A Vampyre Story is a comedy adventure, made by some of the same people who made Monkey Island. It has the same quirky humor and great cartoon art, along with a fun and silly plot. You play as an Opera Diva turned vampire, who decides to escape her maker and try to cope on her own. You can guess how that goes! There is no free demo or downloadable version as of yet, but it was just re-released this month on CD.

Neroli's Comment: Dracula Origin is a point and click adventure that puts you in the world of Bram Stoker's Dracula. You play as Professor Van Helsing, and with a few exceptions, it fits with the plot of the Gothic novel. Be warned, the puzzles are seriously tough, so it's highly likely you'll need a walkthrough. Luckily, there are plenty to choose from online.

Dracula 3: The Path of the Dragon

Neroli's Comment: The Dracula 3: The Path of the Dragon adventure is kind of creepy, and delves into the occult side of things. You play as a priest, sent to investigate the life of a potential saint. What he discovers is far from holy. The scenes are beautifully done, and there are lots of challenging puzzles. There are two earlier games, but I couldn't locate those online.

Neroli's Comment: Vampire Saga is a hidden object adventure, which means there are a lot of hidden object scenes to play as well. You get a disturbing call from your Grandfather, who believes he's committed murder. From there, you follow a complicated plot that involves time travel and lots of twists. It's addictive.

Neroli's Comment: Fatal Hearts is something different. It's technically a visual novel, which many classify in the adventure genre. You know, like those Japanese dating games? Don't worry though...there's nothing "adult" in this game. This one is full of minigames, and depending on how you play, you can end up with one of the game's characters, or you can even end up dead. The story is interesting, and the replay value is through the roof.

Neroli's Comment: Aveyond: Lord of Twilight is an old-school RPG (role playing game), but you have plenty of inventory puzzles much like an adventure game. The graphics will take you back to the console games of the early 90s, but the story is great, and you can do all kinds of quirky things that many adventure games don't let you do like have relationships.

Vampires on Wii....oh, good
Vampires on Wii....oh, good questions! There's a new game coming out called the Grinder, but that's more of a "resident evil" type of a game. There's the Twilight game, too. I haven't played these, so I can't comment. There was supposed to be a Dracula-based game called Harker, but I think that project was put on hold. I haven't heard much about any others. Potential market, I'd say!
Anything for Wii? Vampires
Anything for Wii? Vampires are so hot right now. I'm a True Blood fan, but can't say the same about Twilight.
