Ventricular Tachycardia and Ventricular Fibrillation
posted August 31, 2008 - 9:02amMost of us have seen videos or movies of people being attended to in an emergeny room. Often we see on the ECG a flatline when the person dies. This ECG reading is called asystole in the medical terminology.
When there is no more electrical impulse in the heart, the flatline will appear on the ECG reading. The most that when can do is apply CPR.
However, prior to the flatline, there are two common arythmia that we could see. These are actually life threatening arythmias and should be treated right away.
These are ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation. It is important that these arythmias should be treated right away since at this point the heart is not contracting well and is usually quivering.
The best solution would be is to use a defibrillator. Find below the two common deadly arythmias:
