Venus Williams Beats Sister Serena to Win Fifth Wimbledon Title

Serena Williams had recently gotten the better of older sister Venus, but today was Venus's day at Wimbledon. The elder Williams sister beat Serena in straight sets to capture her fifth Wimbledon ladies' singles title at the All-England Tennis Club. The final score was 7-5, 6-4.

Both players had trouble with the wind on center court, but Venus handled it better. This Wimbledon tournament marked a return to form for the two Williams sisters, who a few years ago were dominant in the women's game but were slowed by injuries and outside interests.

Venus made it through the entire Wimbledon tournament this year without dropping a set. Serena did almost as well; she hadn't dropped a set until losing two to her older sister today.

There won't be much rest time for Venus and Serena on Saturday, though: they are playing for the doubles championship tonight, London time.

Yeah, Serena's had the upper hand (and more attention) recently; it's good to see Venus having more success and recognition.
