A child in a family is a blessing. When that child has a problem of health like being mentally Challanged, etc, The parents heart really goes for that child. They shower the child with extra care and affection and put the child in school which is geared up to educate such children.

If there is a problem with the child which is evident, parents do take action to mitigate the suffering. But what happens when parents do not know that their child has a problem.

Lack of awareness that the child has problem results in skewed relationship between parents and the child. The parents keep expecting normal behaviour and progress in studies, sports, etc while the child is unable to cope up with the grind that appears usual for other children and consumes his energies in other activities, much to the discomfort of the parents. The beautiful relationship between parents and child comes to a brink.

Dyslexia is one such disability primarily related to difficulty with written language, particularly in reading and spelling. The parents, who are unaware, end up treating the child with disdain thinking that the child is not attentive in the class or the child does the mistakes in class or homework intentionally.

It is important to understand if your child has this disorder. If he mixes up spellings, writes large number of alphabet reverse and has difficulty understanding sequence of instructions, you need to consult specialists. But remember, Dyslexia is a result of neurological difference and not an intellactual disability. A child having Dyslexia could have excellent spoken capabilities and exceptional intelligance. What is needed is to understand his / her difficulties and handle them with compassion and care that a special gift from god deserves.

"Tare Zamin Per" would make even the most tough ones to shed a tear or two but it must be watched by everyone.
