World Chess Champion Vishwanathan Anand returned to India on 15 Oct 07 after winning the World Chess Crown. The World Championship took place from 12 Sep 07 to 30 Sep 07 at Mexico City, Mexico. This was the strongest tournament in the history of competitive chess.
- 8 players played against each other each twice in all-play-all format.
- Anand also crossed the magic figure of 2800 in his Elo ratings. (elo ratings is a system to rate players as per their playing strength)
- The prize fund won by V Anand was US $1.3 million
