The Carolinas are known for their attractive beaches that often entertain families during summer vacation.  However, if you are not looking for a beach vacation and would still like to visit North Carolina, then Asheville is a popular summer destination.  The rolling hillsides and mountainous climate offer a change from the typical beach vacation.

Option One:  The Great Outdoors

If your budget can accommodate a hot air balloon ride while you are in Asheville, North Carolina, then take advantage of this once in a lifetime activity.  The beautiful scenery surrounding Asheville and the peaceful environment can best be experienced while you are touring the area from a mile high in the sky.  This tourist attraction is not for the faint of heart, or for those who have a fear of heights, but it is worth the investment if you want an activity that is a bit daring.
