Vitamin D ~ Put Sunshine BACK in Your Life

For years we've been told to cover up and have spent billions of dollars in sunscreen only to discover we are blocking one of the most important sources for Vitamin D. Being a sunworshipper isn't healthy, BUT getting about 30 minutes of sunlight UVA rays (ultraviolet rays) on your full body per day is essential to maintaining healthy Vitamin D levels.

So what you say? Well, new research is finding that a huge and growing number of people have very low Vitamin D levels. Primarily because we are seeking the shade, covering up and blocking out the rays that give us this "sunshine vitamin".  We are spending a lot more time indoors and quite frankly it just isn't good for our bodies.

Your body needs Vitamin D to fight off many diseases and maintain a healthy, working system in your body. Scientists are discovering links age-related diseases, like being senile, forgetful and they are finding more cases of other diseases like cancer too.

The sun is the primary source of Vitamin D. Very little of this vitamin is found in foods, so you can't just eat your way into bringing up your Vitamin D levels. Some foods that do have it are fatty fish (like tuna, mackerel, salmon)--didn't they tell us NOT to eat fish because of mercury levels. Fish has Vitamin D, so does some dairy, yogurt and cereals because it is fortified with Vitamin D--meaning it is added in. This is fine, but an average human can't consume enough in their daily diet to supply the human body's insatiable amount of daily Vitamin D.

So, if you don't want to struggle with a lot of health issues, get some mind related disease as you get older, then get your Vitamin D levels checked. Most likely they are very low, as are most people's around the globe.

In the meantime, spend time outdoors without sunscreen or make-up that has sunscreen in it. Let your body do what God created it to do--absorb the sunlight and produce Vitamin D in your body. Did you know that when your body has enough Vitamin D it naturally destroys any extra?  Too cool.  Thirty minutes a day without sunscreen is fine--remember "everything in moderation".

Humans need to get back to as natural a diet and atmosphere as possible. Enjoy your life and go soak up some sunshine for your health today.
