Walking in The Graveyard One Day.

Walking in The Graveyard One Day.

I based this on a song by Hank William Sr.  I think he was the best country music singer and one of the best writers too that ever lived.

When I posted this the first time it didn't all show up for some reason, so I am reposting in hopes that the entire poem will post.

My poem now:

--{12569508498351}-->

I was visiting the cemetery one day when a friend had died and gone.

I was looking around at some of the other stones.

Then I noticed an older tombstone in a corner sitting all alone.

It seemed to be beckoning to me.

It seemed as if it was calling me over as if it had something to say just to me.

I strolled over slowly not sure that I really wanted to go.

Because of that I really was walking slow.

Then I heard a voice.

I looked around to see who may have joined me.

Not one person was around to be seen.

Still that voice was calling me by name.

I wanted to leave but felt as if I had to find out exactly what was about to be.

Suddenly those tombs seemed so lonely.

Oh those lonely tombs were talking to me.

Calling me!

Saying,

“Wretched man come and rest beside me.

The rest here is great.

The Saviour invites you to come and get your reward soon.

I have mine!

Soon it will be your time too!

Come now don't be afraid!

Rest for an eternity will be yours when you join me here.

Just step right this way.

Join us in the heavenly home today.”

Did you ever put this to

Did you ever put this to music? It has a lot of the lonliness of Hank W in it. Very nice!
