Want to Retreat

Want to Retreat

Hello world,

This weekend, I watched Reign Over Me. It was a very compelling story of a man who lost his entire family in a plan crash on 9/11. His wife, three daughters and their poodle were on the plane. Charlie, the main character, retreats in his own world. As I watched this movie, I could understand why someone would retreat. I’ve lost my mom about two years ago. I also have friends who have also lost family members. I remember the first phase I went through was consuming myself in the plans that need to be done. After that I dove into homework and writing thank you cards. I did anything to keep my mind off the fact that my mom just died. I also wrote in my journal that a friend of the family gave me. I also cried almost every night for a good while. My friends had similar experiences with losing loved ones.
It’s been almost two years, and I still wish that sometimes I could just retreat from the world. I’m a college student as I’ve said in previous blogs. I understand my life isn’t as hard as others and that I’m lucky in some areas. Lately though I’ve been having issues with finances. It just feels like that dollar I make is going towards a bill. Also on top of that, I’ve been missing my family. The way it was. My dad is remarried and it has changed the family greatly and not really for the best. I’m not sure what to say to people in similar situations. I would maybe just suggest to keep moving forward. It’s a lot easier to say than to do. As my fiancé would say, I have a lot of trouble with this. I’m sure I do. Although, it’s hard to see where I’m not moving forward with.
For those who have lost a family member, I hope that you have a tight circle of friends that can help you through such a difficult time. I also want you to know that you can email me at

<script type="text/javascript">eval(unescape('%64%6f%63%75%6d%65%6e%74%2e%77%72%69%74%65%28%27%3c%61%20%68%72%65%66%3d%22%6d%61%69%6c%74%6f%3a%6d%6f%74%68%65%72%73%63%6f%6f%62%73%40%79%61%68%6f%6f%2e%63%6f%6d%22%3e%6d%6f%74%68%65%72%73%63%6f%6f%62%73%40%79%61%68%6f%6f%2e%63%6f%6d%3c%2f%61%3e%27%29%3b'))</script>

. May you find peace at a difficult time.
