Warning - Fake "Tax Refund" Applications Being Sent Out
posted September 4, 2009 - 3:45pmI received an email today that looked fairly legitimate. It said it was from the IRS and that they'd determined I didn't receive my tax refund (which according to my tax guy may actually be true). However, the attachment took me to a website that, in my opinion, seems fraudulent. Here's the thing. At first glance it looked like a website. In fact, I almost posted it in this Xomblurb and Xomba recognized it as not a real website!! Then I went back to the website and found that you couldn't click on ANY of the links or navigation. It's just a page made to fool you.
I don't like the concept of giving out my mother's maiden name, my social security number, my credit card info and all the other info someone would need to steel my identity or take me for all I'm worth.
The link I have attached is research I did about these scams.
I'd really love to hear everyone's thoughts. Be careful guys!
