71 years ago today, a 23-year-old Orson Wells caused quite a stir with his rendition of the H.G. Wells novel, War of the Worlds.  By fashioning the exposition of the story as a radio broadcast.  This publicity stunt -- an early Halloween prank of sorts -- sent many listeners into a panic, who believed the Martian invasion was actually occurring.  

On Friday, October 30, 2009, the original 1938 Mercury Theater broadcast will be streamed on the internet beginning at 8:00 p.m. EST.
