Watch Ares Launch Video - Ares I-X Lifts Off From Kennedy Space Center
posted October 28, 2009 - 12:16pmAres I-X finally lifts off from the NASA Kennedy Space Station. The Ares I-X took flight at about 11:30 a.m. It was a powerful 2 minute flight. The total flight test time was about 6 minutes. The launch took place a tthe Launch Pad 39B. The splashdown was 150 miles away.
The Ares I-X launch provides NASA with a lot of date to improve the design and safety of future flights. The Ares I-X was 327 foot in height. It produced 2.6 million pounds of thrust. the speed was neary 3 g's and Mach 4.76.
