I was a young girl the first time I saw Julia Child. This amazing frizzy haired woman with the strange voice and the ability to make the most complicated gourmet dish seem easy to make, spoke to me from the black and white TV set and I was immediately transported to another world.

A world where anything is possible in the kitchen. Not only possible, but fun. I think that was her most endearing quality. She had fun. More fun than I have ever seen anyone have in the kitchen. Suddenly, complicated French classic cuisine became a way to spend a fun afternoon in the kitchen. Never have I seen anyone enjoy making puff pastry as Julia enjoyed it.
