There are a bunch of places online to watch free videos. One of the most well-known is Peekvid. It is a portal to a lot of current TV shows and movies including Children of Men and Borat.

The connection seems to be very fast--sometimes you will get annoying pop-up ads, but it is easy to shut them down and start watching your show.

But you can't complain about free movies and TV shows online.
