Watch Online TV for Free on your Flat Screen TV

I just recently moved into a new apartment with a couple friends. We are all in the same kind of work and are on our computers for our "nine to fives." So in an attempt to save some money we opted to not have the 500 channels on TV. So we are sticking with basic cable.

But who really wants to go with out watching some of those awesome sitcoms that everybody is always talking about. So, of course, we looked to the web. I've been using a couple websites to watch TV shows online for free for a while and love the no commercials as well as watching an entire season on a lazy Sunday. The major site I've found is Hulu.com and Fancast.com. I know there are plenty more, just search your favorite search engine for free tv online, or free sticoms online. I'm sure you all know how to use google :).

Either site you go to you can watch endless videos and TV shows. The only problem we are having (or WERE having) is that if all of us in the apartment wanted to watch a TV show we were stuck watching them on one of our computer screens. Usually a laptop screen to boot!

Now this fix isn't ground breaking and might even be common knowledge for a lot of people but we were all stoked when we figured it out! Instead of spending money on a monthly cable bill we pooled our money and bought a new flat screen TV.

Believe it or not there are FIVE different ports that you can use to connect your computer to your TV.

Composite/phono plug (RCA)

S-Video Video graphics array (VGA)

Digital video interface (DVI)

High-definition multimedia interface (HDMI)

We went with HDMI because it's the only port that doesn't require additional audio cables. One simple cable and you have free TV online on your TV!! So we direct our browser to the site of choice, plug the HDMI cable into the laptop, enter full screen and BAM!! Free TV! Now we can watch HBO's 'Entourage', 'Californication', or my favorite 'Heroes' on our new flat screen with only a monthly internet bill.

Way better than DVR in my opinion. The websites that offer the TV shows usually have them uploaded the day after, and sometimes right after the actual show airs.

Enjoy!!
