The US Open Tennis championships started as early as 1881 and is held at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York USA. Although the main US Open tournament is the best tennis, it's a lot of fun to check out the free Qualifying Tournament (August 19-22) and Practice Day (August 24) before the main event. Kids' Day (August 23) is also a great event for children and their families. These free events are a good value for getting close to the tennis action.

The Championship is held over two weeks duration Monday, August 31, to Sunday, September 13, 2009.
