Water boarding is a form of torture used to simulate drowning of the victim. Water boarding is used to induce fear and water boarding's effect is meant to make the victim confess of their crimes and possibly give information about conspirators. Water boarding is still in use by our government, however the government tries to keep water boarding out of the public eye. When John McCain announced his candidacy, water boarding seemed to jump to the top of the list as he was asked questions about torture, seeing as he was tortured for years. John McCain has a staunch stance against the use of water boarding and has become confrontational about water boarding with Mitt Romney. John McCain seems to be one of few military men completely against torture. This trait is what brings many to be interested in John McCain and his candidacy.
