Water for a healthy you!
posted April 28, 2008 - 3:03amThere are essential nutrients that our body must take to insure health and good function of our system. Basically these nutrients include the following, carbohydrates, proteins, fats, dairy products, water. Unfortunately however, from among the essential elements that the body must take, water is always the last thing in mind. But we have to remember that water plays a vital role in our system to function effectively. As you may know, our body is made of 70 percent fluid. Thus, water plays a vital role for survival. Without water, we will die of dehydration. Moreover, water balances our body’s pH.
Bear in mind that there is a difference in drinking water and other fluids. Fluids like tea, coffee, sodas should not be counted as water intake. Most of these fluids contain caffeine and are diuretics. This means that as you drink these fluids, you tend to lose water since it will encourage urination. Therefore, if you drink coffee and other caffeinated drinks, then you should increase you water intake to replenish the amount of water loss.
The recommended amount of water is at least 8 ounces per day. The good thing about it is there is no such thing as water overdose. The more you drink the better since it will also help cleanse your system. So for a healthy body, drink lots of water!
