Let’s admit it restrooms, especially public restrooms are haven to disease carrying bacteria like the deadly E. coli. Avoid touching anything in the restroom, a rather difficult feat to do.

Although contracting STD even in the dirtiest restroom is highly unlikely, we still want to protect ourselves from bacteria which can produce some infectious diseases like colds and flu. Some of the most highly transmitted diseases by touch.

How can one even avoid touching door handles or faucets in the restroom? Drying one’s hands with paper towels and using these to provide as barriers between you and anything in the restroom is the best possible solution according to the Centers for Disease Control or CDC. It is important that you should thoroughly dry your hands and it is best done with some paper towels. This is more favourable than using hand blow dryers since most people quickly gave up on blow dryers without even completely drying themselves.

When you are in a public restroom, try to use the first stall. It has been observed that the middle and the last stalls are more frequently used by more people thus leaving these areas more bacteria laden.

Never forget to put a barrier between your bare butt and the seat. You can either use rolls of toilet paper or seat guard. Some public restrooms like the ones in O’Hare airport in Chicago have automatic disposable seat pads which minimize the possibility of people contracting germs from the toilet seats.

In conclusion, if you really want to avoid picking up germs in the restroom, dry yourself thoroughly using paper towels at the same time use these paper towels to shield yourself from anything in the restroom may it be doors or handles.
