Bring an Ipod.
For me this usually works the best. You can make your own playlist and have music to listen to while you are running. It will really make the time past a lot quicker too. You will still be thinking of running but you will be enjoying yourself too.
Watch television.
At most gyms they have televisions in the cardio area. I suggest finding a treadmill close by. This way you can watch some of your favorite shows and not have to stare at an empty space on the wall.
Bring a friend.
Bring someone that you enjoy talking to. Chances are you will strike up an interesting conversation and talk throughout the remainder of your workout.
Study.
If you are in school bring some homework with you. Maybe some notes for a test you can look over while you are running. That way you will be multi tasking and when you are done working out hopefully you will done with your homework as well.
Bring a magazine.
A suggest bringing a magazine over a book. A book you may get too into just reading text and get too distracted from running. But with a magazine you have pictures and articles you can flip through.
