We all need Heroes

By Crazy John Kerecz

Comic Book Heroes are an original teen four-piece rock band started by four friends hailing from the Reading Pa area. All four members are 16 years old and have been together for four years. The band consists of Collin on the drums; Steve on bass and vocals; Ned on lead vocals, guitar, keyboard and Steve Koz on lead guitar and vocals. “We’re young but do not be fooled by that” is the reaction everyone gets when asking them about their age.
This band delivers a performance that surpasses their age with a fresh musical style that is a guitar oriented, melodic rock with strong vocals and a vintage feel. Like most bands they started out playing covers, mainly classic rock like the Stones and the Kinks. Soon after, they began writing original material, and in March 2006 released their first EP/CD. Their second release, 'Take A Seat' was released in July 2008 and was produced by Jimmy Landry. When asked about their influences and writing the Comic Book Heroes threw out “Our influences are mostly classic rock’, “We write about what is going on in our lives”, and “We always write together as a group.”
Comic Book Heroes have been performing since May 2004 while working under the musical guidance of Craig MacGregor, the bassist for Foghat. They have performed for thousands of people in cities across the country, doing shows with Foghat, REO Speedwagon, Jealousy Curve, Redflecks, Ultra High Frequency, Johnny Action Figure, Steppenwolf, and others. They have played more than 200 shows across the country including the International Pop Festival (NYC & Hollywood), Texas Rockfest, MMC 12 Showcase, SXSW, Six Flags, Hershey Park, America's Fair, New Jersey beaches, The Knitting Factory, The Silo Nightclub, American Music Theatre, The Works, The Reading Stadium, and numerous clubs, events, benefits and festivals around the country.
Comic Book Heroes have even done a music video for Jack’s Big Music Show, which has aired on Nickelodeon's Noggin channel. Also, the show Fast Forward did a profile on the band, a ‘Rockumentary’ of a show they did in Indiana where they opened for Foghat.
When discussing the bands career they mentioned, “We’ve met a lot of great people, made new fans and friends and continue to enjoy the amazing time we’re having in this band!”
