Weather Related Winter Power Outage Affects Many - Prepare for Electricity Disruption

We have all experienced the inconvenience of temporary power outages! Whether it was caused by severe weather like snow and ice storms, accidents or failed power company equipment, it can be very frustrating.
Generators, both portable and whole house automatic backup generators are both excellent solutions but, are quite expensive - up to $35,000 for the automatic home power/standby units! If you have a portable generator (price range $300 to $1500 range) you have to make sure that you have fuel and you have to test it periodically for operational readiness.
What I have realized in my home is that most power outages are relatively short and at best, an inconvenience. You just grow to expect them and tolerate them.
The ideal answer to these types of short temporary outages is having a ready back up source of power that is always ready to go. Something with a flashlight, radio and power to keep your cell phone charged and a lamp running. Usually that is enough.
I have two of these StormStation All-In-One Rechargeable Power Source/Radio/Light units at my house. I have found that in times when the power does go out temporarily, these are extremely handy to have.
You can't prevent the weather from interupting the electricty supply to your house. What you can do is prepare yourself with something simple and inexpensive. Take a look and consider a few for your home!
