Week 4 NFL Picks 2008
posted September 25, 2008 - 4:49pmSeptember 28th
1 PM Games (Eastern Time)
Cleveland Browns (0-3) at Cincinnati Bengals (0-3)
Battle of the Ohio 0 - 3's. Last week the Cincinnati Bengals played the Super Bowl champion New York Giants into over time making up for their anemic performances in Weeks 1 and 2. The Cleveland Browns have looked anything like the playoff contender they were billed to be this season and if Derek Anderson plays one more bad game, in comes Brady Quinn. I say the Bengals pull this one out in a squeaker, the Browns have just shown no heart in their 3 losses so far.
Cincinnati Bengals 24, Cleveland Browns 17
Minnesota Vikings (1-2) at Tennessee Titans (3-0)
Both of these teams have something in common, they dumped their athletic, scrambling QBs for old school pocket passers and it seems to have worked out for both of them. However, I think that this game will be decided by who can run the ball the best. I see the Titans win streak running dry against a potent Vikings running attack.
Minnesota Vikings 20, Tennessee Titans 10
Denver Broncos (3-0) at Kansas City Chiefs (0-3)
This probably the easiest pick of the week. The Broncos have scored 41, 39 and 34 points through the first 3 weeks. the Chiefs have scored 10, 8 and 14. Enough said.
Denver Broncos 32, Kansas City Chiefs 14
San Francisco 49ers (2-1) at New Orleans Saints (1-2)
Who would have thought that 4 weeks into the season, this would be such a tough pick. The 49ers have exceeded most expectations and the Saints have not lived up to theirs. I think the Saints will get this one done on the back of Drew Brees who will continue to put up amazing passing numbers.
New Orleans Saints 32, San Francisco 49ers 24
Arizona Cardinals (2-1) at New York Jets (1-2)
This would should be an old fashioned shoot out between two veteran QBs. Kurt Warner may have more weapons at WR but Brett Favre has the home field advantage. Plus I don't see Brett getting too comfortable with this 'losing' thing. If you like points, then this may be the game of the day for you.
New York Jets 35, Arizona Cardinals 28
Green Bay Packers (2-1) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-1)
Let the battle for top of the second tier NFC teams begin. Well, at least any NFC team that isn't in the NFC East. Without the services of Al Harris, I would expect the Packers to have some trouble stopping the passing game but I can't see Brian Griese reproducing the numbers he put up last week. I do think Aaron Rodgers will continue playing at a high level. He better, my fantasy team is depending on it.
Green Bay Packers 27, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 13
Atlanta Falcons (2-1) at Carolina Panthers (2-1)
The Panthers luck ran out last week when they went to Minnesota but I think they will bounce back against a young, but scrappy, Atlanta team. I like the Falcons and I am pleasantly surprised at the play of Michael Turner. But, mark my words, Carolina is heading for the NFC South division crown this season.
Carolina Panthers 21, Atlanta Falcons 10
Houston Texans (0-2) at Jacksonville Jaguars (1-2)
What is wrong with Matt Schaub? If anyone some the clips from last weeks game against the Titans, Schaub looked awful. The Texans could have won that game but there were too many interceptions thrown and too many red zone attempts wasted. The Jaguars, after getting a lift from a must win at Indianapolis, are going to make it 2 in a row at home.
Jacksonville Jaguars 23, Houston Texans 13
4 PM Games (Eastern Time)
San Diego Chargers (1-2) at Oakland Raiders (1-2)
The Chargers have a very dangerous offense, there is no denying that. Their defense, however, is quite questionable and I think it will cost them their shot at the playoffs this year. The Raiders are not a strong enough opponent to upset the Chargers, especially with Al Davis threatening to fire the head coach every week.
San Diego Chargers 32, Oakland Raiders 12
Buffalo Bills (3-0) at St. Louis Rams (0-3)
Lots of people are picking the Rams to pull of an upset here but I just don't see it happening. The Bills have shown the determination to win close games and come back from deficits late in the game. The Rams resurrecting Trent Green will not resurrect their season.
Buffalo Bills 24, St. Louis Rams 9
Washington Redskins (2-1) at Dallas Cowboys (3-0)
The Cowboys are the most dominant team so far this season. The Redskins are the worst team in a great division and will be lucky to win 2 games against their division opponents. This will not be one of those 2 games. The Cowboys simply have to much offense for the Redskins to handle.
Dallas Cowboys 30, Washington Redskins 14
8 PM Game (Eastern Time)
Philadelphia Eagles (2-1) at Chicago Bears (1-2)
The Philadelphia Eagles have looked increasingly strong this season despite their disappointing loss to the Dallas Cowboys. The biggest issue for them going into week 3 is the status of RB Brian Westbrook who is currently listed as day to day. After coming out of the gate strong by beating the Colts at home, the Chicago Bears have done nothing but find ways to lose game in weeks 2 and 3. In the end I think the Eagles defense will be too much for a Hester-less Bears team.
Philadelphia Eagles 28, Chicago Bears 7

Monday Night Game 8:30 PM (Eastern Time)
Baltimore Ravens (2-0) at Pittsburgh Steelers (2-1)
The Steelers got beat up after last week's game against the Eagles. Big Ben is banged up and Willie Parker is out against the Ravens. Are the Ravens ready to make a run at the division title? Not so fast. The Steelers defense will make enough plays to win a game against the rookie QB Joe Flaco.
Pittsburgh Steelers 13, Baltimore Ravens 3
