Welcome to: Juanita's Mexican Food "Home of the Junk in the Trunk Burrito"

As one of Xomba's featured Food and Drink columnists it is my duty to bravely eat, where I have not eaten before.... and then tell you about it. Yes, this is a pretty sweet gig indeed. :)

Today I am giving a brief review of Juanita's Mexican Food. Juanita's where they proudly proclaim they are the Home of the Junk in the Trunk Burrito!

I last visited Juanita's restaurant on October 4, 2009 on a mid-day run to pick up some party supplies for a rowdy toga party later that evening, ah, but I digress.

Juanita's Mexican Food is a rather small shop located near the corner of a shopping center back away from the street. It is extremely clean inside and out, with limited parking in close proxcimity to the store front, but ample parking overall.

Once inside Juanita's restaurant you'll find a nicely kept short order restaurant with four tables, a couple of flat screens, and a large menu hanging overhead. Staff is generally friendly and helpful.

TIP: Bring cash or you'll get dinged a surcharge for using your ATM. Oh, and do try the freshly made guacamole!

The menu at Juanita's is very reasonably priced for authentic Mexican food, featuring breakfast and lunch/dinner items. On this day, I sampled a Chilie Relleno Burrito and a side of guacamole. Let me tell you these folks know what they are doing! Thier chillie relleno was perfectly preparred with an excellent flavor, texture, and presentation all wraped up in a warm and friendly flour tortilla shell.

The guacamole is extremely reasonably priced and as fresh as can be. You would do well to buy yourself a large container to go, to supplement any party, or event.

Speaking of events, Juanita's offers 3,4, and 6 foot burritos starting at $40 and up.

As for the infamous "Junk in the Trunk Burrito", the menu reveals it to be an "Extremely large burrito with your choice of meat with beans, rice, cheese, onions, tomatoes, cilantro, sour cream, & guacamole. I don't know about a calorie count, but this monster burrito will set you back $20 and is guaranteed to put some "Junk in your Trunk"!

One last thought on Juanita's of Upland. I really loved the hand painted mural featuring Juanita in the dining area!
