Welcome to New Xomba - All About Profile Page And How to Edit Your Settings

Welcome to new Xomba. This byte is a guide to tell you all about your Profile Page and how to "Edit Your Settings".

Profile Page:

You need to first log in to your account to be able to access the editing features in your Profile Page. Once you have logged in, you can directly go to your profile page by Clicking on the "My Profile" link given in the Top Right Navigation Panel or User Box.

Your Profile Page will have your User Name right at the Top of the page below which you will be able to see Four Tabs marked -  View, Edit, Referrals, My Guestbook.

Your referral link appears below these tabs. Use this referral link to invite people to join Xomba under you.

On the extreme left side you will be able to see the "Avatar" picture that you can select and upload very easily. This will be explained in detail when I come to the "Editing" feature.

Below this is a long Green Box with all your "Vital Statistics" of Xomba displayed. These Statistics are nothing but points awarded to all the work that you do here. You can see the total number of Xombytes and Xomblurbs posted, Comments, total points accumulated so far (Bytes + Blurbs + Comments + images + Votes), Favorites, and the total number of reads on all your content posted so far.

On the right of this Box is the information you have supplied all about yourself including your Biography. Below this is the Friends Block that displays all your friends. And right below this block you can see all your Recent Posts in a block "Posts From User name (your name appears here)".

You have the option of Sorting Your Posts by - Most Recent, Most Popular, Most Votes, Most Discussed.

Scroll down further and you will come to your Wall. This is the place where your guests or  other users can write or scribble anything. All that is written on the wall appears in the "Guestbook". (the fourth tab at the top of the page). This feature is similar to the one you will find in other social networking sites like Facebook or Myspace etc...

Edit Your Settings:

Now lets come to the Edit Feature which is very important for you. To Edit Your Settings Click on the Edit Tab that is the second button at the Top of the Page. You are given Three options -

  • Account
  • Adsense
  • Personal Information
  1. Account Settings :

Let's see the Account Settings first. The first Block you come accross is the Private Messages Block where you can choose to either Allow Private Messages from everyone, or only your relationships (friends).  If you choose "Everyone" then you will be able to get private messages from any user on Xomba. This opens you to spam messages also. So, think what you want and select the appropriate choice that suits you.

Below this appears your E-mail, Password and Confirm Password Boxes. The E-mail will appear automatically as the one that you must have used in order to sign in to Xomba. If in case you want to change the E-mail, Password then you will use this box to Re-enter the new password twice to confirm it.

Then comes the User Guestbook block. You can select the Status of your choice whether you want to enable or disable it. If you choose to Disable it then nobody will be able to write an entry into your guestbook. Check the Box in front of "Send email notification" if you want to be notified anytime a new entry is made in your guestbook. Write any text into the "Intro Text" Box and it will appear on your Wall as an introductory message to all your guests.

You can sign up for the Xomba Newsletters by checking the box in front of "Sign up for our newsletter."

Next is the Avatar Picture Upload Box. Below this you can see many avatars of Abmox that you can select from and upload as your Avatar. Its very simple, all you need to do is Click on any of the avatars given and it will be added as your picture. If however, you want to upload a different picture from your computer or internet, then browse the picture and click "Upload". Just be careful that the dimensions of the picture should tally with this - Maximum dimensions are 500x500 and the maximum size is 1024 kB.

Last feature on this page is the "signature Settings". You can add anything as your signature into the box provided (Limited Number of Characters) which will appear in the comment box every time you make a comment, as your signature. Read more about adding your feedburner here: Welcome to New Xomba - How To Add Feedburner In Your Comments

In the End, Click on the Save Button to Save all your settings.

2. Adsense Tab

Here you need to add your Google Adsense Information as - Pub -xxxxxxxxxxxx (X represents your number). Then Click the Save Button.

3. Personal Information

The option of setting the "Private messages" is given in all the above pages, so making the same changes in all the pages will see that you get what you choose.

Below that is a form in which you can fill all your personal information that you want the public to see. In case you don't want to display any particular feature, you can leave it blank. So Go ahead and tell everyone what you are all about. You Need to Check the Boxes of the TOS and Agree to Post only Material That I own. Please Make sure That you read them carefully before checking the boxes.

Once you have completed the form, remember to Click the Save Button at the end before exiting the page.

All your Settings are now complete.

Referrals Tab
:

This is the third Tab on the Top of the Profile Page. Click on this tab to come to the page where you can see the list of all the people who have signed up under you (referrals) on Xomba.

There are two ways to send an invitation or get people to sign up under you.

  1. Insert the Referral code in any of your bytes or in the form of a message, or in your signature...where people will see it and hopefully click it to sign up.
  2. You can send personal e-mail invites to the people or friends and relatives you know by filling the Box given below every page and clicking the "Send Invite" Button.

You can then monitor your invites by visiting this page where you will be able to see:
Pending, Expired (If the invited User Fails to Register within 30 Days then his name is automatically deleted after that period), New invitation.

So, I think that covers all the settings that you require to do in order to be able to enjoy all the benefits of  the New Xomba Website to the maximum. I hope that this information has been useful to all those who are relatively new here and even some old ones who are still feeling lost on this new site. Want to Join Xomba Then Sign Up Here.

Thanks Mamamia,

But No, I am unable to help you on that. I am myself waiting for the major bugs to be sorted out before bothering them about a video embed.

I think they are facing problems with "Code" being inserted into the boxes. But, anyway, at least the old videos are still there. Let's just have some patience and wait and see what happens.

I am sure that Nick and Jeremy will get the thing sorted out soon, In the meantime, we could just supply the link to the video.

Thanks again for your comment.
