Welcome to New Xomba - How To Embed A You Tube Video?
posted July 30, 2009 - 6:03amWelcome to New Xomba. Everybody has been asking me just one question so far - How Do We Embed A You Tube Video? Well, I must say that the question did leave me stumped because I was unable to get a video embedded myself. But the Xomba Staff has shown us that, Yes, a video Can be embedded here. How To Embed a You Tube Video in this Text Editor? I did a little snooping around and I am happy to say that I finally hit the nail on the head, and wanted to shout - EUREKA !
Let me guide you, step by step, as to how you can go about embedding a video.
- Select the Video that you want to embed in the post. Copy the Embed Code and keep ready.
- Open a "Post a Xombyte / Post a Xomblurb" page, depending upon where you want to post the video.
- When the page begins to load your Text Box will appear without the tool bar initially. That is the time when you need to Paste the code immediately into the Text Editor.
- The Page will now load completely and your tool bar appears on top of the Text Editor. Now, you will NO Longerbe able to view your code.
- Haha...MAGIC! ;-) Now write whatever material you want to write in the box and it will appear below the embedded video.
There is another way in which to embed a video, if in case you want to put it in between a text, like I have done here.
- Start your byte or blurb and write whatever you want to write in the Text Box. Make sure you fill in all the required details like - Title of the post, Tags, Link, and category etc..
- Now Select The Video that you want to embed and Copy the Code. Keep ready.
- Choose the place that you want to embed your Video in (in your mind).
- Now Click the Preview Button.
- As Soon as the page has started loading, go below to the Edit Section immediately and you will find your Text in the Text Box Without the Tool Bars. Now, identify the place you want to insert your code and do so FAST, before the whole page loads. You should have embedded the Code before the Tool Bars appear.
- Once the tool Bars appears, you will NOT be able to see your code. If you want your video to appear between two lines then "Leave" a line between them so you know where to insert the code.
- There your video is ready to be submitted.
Hey, I just dicovered yet another easier way to embed videos into this text editor or your posts. For that you will need to use the "Blogger" Text editor. Here is how I did it,
- Open a "New Post" page in Blogger (Most of you have blogs on blogger, if not then it is easy to create a blog).
- Click on the "Edit HTML" and write out the complete byte or blurb that you wish to post, along with the You tube video code in the place you want it.
- Now format the text the way you want it to appear.
- Once you have everything ready, Click on the "Compose Mode" button on top, Now highlight your text completely or right click on your mouse and "select all" and copy and paste it into this text editor. Remember, you will not be able to "See" the embed code in the Compose mode, so don't panic. Once you have pasted it here and submitted, your video will appear.
- Your video will appear as you want it to...!
Hey, its pretty easy, isn't it? Well, I am glad that I could help you all with this one. I hope this post helps all of you who were waiting to embed videos. If you want to join in the excitement at Xomba then Join Here.

Hey rawnak, nope - I'm using firefox. I'm kinda baffled by this whole thing - I have tried other browsers to no avail. I dunno, kinda puts me off a wee bit. I'll be happy when it's sorted.
@ XHX, Mythman
Ahhh..Thanks Mythman for bringing out that particular problem..I hadn't thought of that. Yes, the browser you are using makes a big difference in how things can be done. I am using the Firefox browser and apparently Xomba works best on the firefox, so I am good with most things...
I am really not sure how things look with any other browser, other than internet explorer, but Xomba is not very stable with IE either..
Maybe you should take up the matter with the admin about how to go about with other browsers on this site?
As for you tube videos/ or any other videos are concerned, like I mentioned somewhere earlier...This FCKEditor has only limited buttons and needs additional "Pluggins" for embedding videos or for putting in any flash code etc....Which the programmer or the admin staff have not added here (maybe for a good reason)...They do have some stability issues and so the only way, for now is the way I have shown by using another text editor to transfer the code safely and without hassles....
XHX, maybe you are using a browser other than the firefox?

@XHX I Feel Your Pain;
Google Chrome apparently doesn't read the same as Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox or AOL or whatever browser Abmox uses.
I guess this blog is limited to 'being a blog' for now.

Maybe I'm way out of line here,
but what the hell? We need to embed the vid before the page even loads properly - and hope that it works? Nuh, that's just crap. Maybe I'm missing something here (which is bloody well possible but let me have my rant - it's only little) but honestly, is that what we're stuck with doing to get a youtube vid into our articles? I tried the other way with posting an image link or some such and to no avail. I am frustrated, grrr.
Edit:
Okay, okay, I did that thing with the blogger that some of you guys were talking about and...it worked!!! However, I did not like the fact that I had to go to a whole other website and make a blog I didn't want so that I could use their editing majiggers. So now that I got the embed thing to work (thank you guys for being curious enough to research how) I have another problem.....I have this -
Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4
st1\:*{behavior:url(#ieooui) }/* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";
and I can't get rid of it.
<script type="text/javascript"></script><script src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js" type="text/javascript"> </script><script type="text/javascript">google_protectAndRun("ads_core.google_render_ad", google_handleError, google_render_ad);</script>you are a genious
I am new, not that great with things like this, and I totally did it through blogger. My computer loads too quickly for me to try it the other way. :)
THANK YOU!!!!!!!
@rnk I Might Be Able to Embed, but ...
My most-recent try was with a video 'playlist' at my link to it, and that just showed up as a blank space (maybe the computers and/or programmers will figure it out by the time you get to it. ;-) )

@ Saffire
I feel quite certain that this is the "foolproof' method to copy and successfully embed the video using the Blogger Text Editor..
are you sure you are doing exactly as I have instructed?
Let me remind you that you will NOT see the code or anything but a BLANK space in the place of the video in the Compose Mode of the Blogger Text Editor, once you have embedded the code. Right click the mouse and choose "Select all" to highlight all the material on the page and then "Copy and Paste" here.
Once you paste the Text with the blank space here and press Preview button, a box will appear with a "Puzzle" sign in the middle to show where your video will feature. Then submit the post and your video appears where you want it..
