Welcome to the new Xomba. The web design of this new Xomba is quite different from the earlier version and has many new exciting features, has a more professional look and is very futuristic which promises better things to come.

I am writing this byte to help you find and navigate your way through this new Xomba so that you can enjoy your writing experience and interacting with other users and writers in a more beneficial manner. You can also now use these new features to market yourself and your writing in a more professional manner on the internet. The new professional look will definitely help in getting more traffic to the site and attract more people to join and be a part of the writing community.

Home Page: Finding your way about.

Let's start with the Home Page. When you land on the Home page, because that's where everybody will come first usually, you will see a TOP Navigation Bar with buttons that are marked - Home, Xombytes, Xomblurbs, Members and Help just below the Xomba sign and Logo, "Show and Tell has never been so rewarding".

To the right of this navigation bar you will find the Login and Password boxes that will help a user to login to the site. You need to be a registered member to be able to login to the site. If you haven't registered so far and wish to do so then you can sign up by clicking on the "Get Started Today" button that lies just below the welcome banner that says - Read, Write and Get paid.

Below the welcome banner you can see the latest "Feature Posts" by the Featured Writers of Xomba who write under the various categories of Xomba. And right below this are the Editor's Picks - Some of the Best Xombytes written by various users on the site or Contest Winning Posts. You can view all the Editor's Picks  by clicking on the link provided at the top of the editor's block. Same as the Featured Bytes.

On the Right Navigational Panel, you will find the "Search Xomba Box" just below the Login box or the "User's Block", in case you have already logged in. Use this advanced search feature to search for posts or any other material on Xomba. This is a very handy tool and works excellently.

Immediately below this "Search Xomba Box" you will find the "Tips" of the day. The Purple colored Alien or figure is the "mascot" of Xomba, Abmox. You will find him in different and interesting "Avatars" that reflect his personality, his versatality and intelligence. You can learn something from him everyday. Do not be afraid of him because he is a very friendly guy and will NOT harm you in any way. Listen to him carefully and he will guide you on Xomba.

Below this you will see the "Browse Posts by Category" block where you will be able to find posts written so far under each and every category on Xomba. Each and every category will have "Feaured Writers" who will be writing "Feature Articles" in their respective categories. These writers are qualified writers for their specifically chosen subjects. So take time out to read the interesting articles posted by them.

Below this Block you will be able to get a glimpse of some of the recent posts as Recent Xombytes and Recent Xomblurbs. You can click on the "More" button below to go to the complete list of each of these categories, which will take you to the "Recent Xombytes" page marked as Xombytes as mentioned on the "TOP Navigation Bar" and "Recent Xomblurbs" respectively. Below each of these blocks of the Recent Xombytes and Recent Xomblurbs individual pages you will find the Recent Comments section to view all the recent comments of the day. If you click on the link provided below the "Recent Comments" it will take you to the list of comments that were made.

Immediately Below this block is Content Archive Box where you can search for all the old posts as per the Year, Month and Dates under the different categories. The year starts from 2006 May, that was when Xomba was initiated.

There are two links below this box that will take you to the "Member directory" and the "Tag Index". If you are looking for someone in particular, you can search for the member by clicking on the alphabetical listing. The tag index will show you the different tags and the most popular tags that are being used on Xomba under all categories also listed alphabetically.

The Member Button in the Top Navigation Bar is where you will find the members "who are online" at any time of the day or night. You will also be able to see a Scroll of the Feature Writers beside this. You can click on any of those Feature Writers name which will take you to their profile page, Or Click on the "View Articles" button below the name and go to the articles written by that author. These are all Featured Writers as mentioned in the above paragraph. The Member page also contains a Send Invite Box from where you can send invites to anyone by typing the e-mail address in the box and clicking the "send" button. Below this is the Member Directory.

The Help Button in the Top Navigation Bar will take you to the page with all the Helpful Links as listed in the Green Box marked "Useful Sections" right at the Bottom of the Home Page and other pages also. Here is where you can read the Getting Started, Making Money Guide, FAQ, Contests, Posting Rules, Xomba Store, Terms of Use, Privacy Policy etc...Make sure you read all these if you are NEW to Xomba. Don't forget to read the Xomba Testimonials written by the users of Xomba where you will be able to get many useful tips on how to go about making money on this site.

You will find a "Beta, "Report a bug here" Button on the Extreme Top Left Side of the page which will be in use only till the Beta phase of the website, and should be used to report any bugs or errors found on any page. (For Registered Members Only).

You can use the Contact Us form right at the bottom of the Useful Sections by clicking on the link and filling the form where all your concerns and feedback will be addressed by the staff of Xomba.

Once you have logged in by using your Login ID and Password you will see a Box in place of the login button which welcomes you by your name and where you will find all the useful links to your "work areas". Find the following links: 
Logged in as Your Name

• My Profile
• My Posts

• Inbox
  
• Subscriptions
• Friends
  
• Favorites

• Post a Xombyte
• Post a Xomblurb

These are all your useful links that you will use to go to your profile page,  all your posts (bytes/blurbs) in your "workspace", your inbox (private messages), subscriptions, friends (buddies), Favorites (a list of all the posts "favorited" by you), And the Post a Xombyte / Post a Xomblurb Buttons which you will use to post your articles or links as "bytes or blurbs" respectively.

I will write the details of the other pages in subsequent bytes. I do hope that you will find this article helpful to navigate your way around Xomba to start with.
