We've Lost Ourselves and Taken Our Kids With Us

We've Lost Ourselves and Taken Our Kids With Us

The other day I got a needed slap in the face. My 14 year-old was downloading from AIM, LimeWire and MySpace onto his iPod. One download was a picture of two intertwined, semi-naked girls in thong bikinis, so I told him to get rid of the porn or lose his computer.< p>

I was pretty shocked to realize they were his 14 year-old classmates. Didn't their parents give a damn? Did they condone this? When he showed me fifty or so of his classmates on MySpace, many or most posted pictures of themselves or each other that would have been soft porn not so long ago. All 14 and 15 years old.

We're not losing our way, we've lost it.

That's a good way to look at

That's a good way to look at it, Publius. I wonder though, if most of those parents are worried about falling out of favor with their kids or about not having their kids' needs cut into their time. Either way though, you're right; parents need the willpower, if they don't have the will, to teach their kids the difference between right and wrong. mhttp://www.xomba.com/user/thewonderer

It's sad that these girls

It's sad that these girls don't appear to have any guidance, but at least your son was looking at two girls intertwined and semi-naked instead of two guys, right? All is not lost yet. People can still take control of their own households...for now anyway. (The government is slowly trying to take that away as well.) But parents need to have the will power to set their kids straight. Unfortunately, many of them are too worried about falling out of favor with their kids instead of doing what's best for them.
