Global Position Systems are a standard in all cell phones manufactured after 2005 as required by the FCC. There are certain positives and negatives associated with this legislation. Cell phone technology has changed drastically over the past five years or so. Read on to
get some of the benefits.
Directions
Some GPS units in phones can be tuned to help users find their directions through even the biggest most complicated streets. Using not only the cell phone towers, but the GPS satellites allow the cell phones to work as well as many of the low end GPS units.
Avoiding Traffic
In the same vein as getting directions via your phone, a lot of the more recent GPS units can actually monitor traffic flow and give you alternate routes if the one you are on is congested.
Points of Interest
If you are running low on gas or you’re hungry, many phones released in the past year will actually be able to point you towards the closest gas station or restaurant as well as many other points of interest along your route.
911
In the event of an accident or home incident a simple dialing of 911 will give the dispatchers your exact location within 100 meters of your location.
Child Safety
If your child has a cell phone it will make it much easier to find the child in the event of an emergency. Knowing where the child is will allow the parent to retrieve them if speed is needed.
